Some notes on our name:

Light and Maille

The
Light comes from the modification of light by the glass in crystals, beads or stained glass.

Maille comes from the arrangement of metal rings used in the defensive maille of fighting knights.

It is often spelled just mail, but since ours has nothing to do with messages we prefer the more specific spelling. And ours has little in common with the older iron rings of true maille shirts, which rusted and were extremely heavy.

Here, maille is made from a variety of jewelry metals such as copper, brass, aluminum, and, of course, gold and silver (both fine and sterling). The rings are joined in various patterns, called weaves, that each show unique finished faces. They have delightful names and an amazing variety of looks given all are made of rings.
